Reviewing past lessons:WH Questions.
I will sit everyone in a circle around me and I will throw (or roll) a ball to each student randomly. As I do so, ask questions, starting from the simple (What's your name?, How are you?) to more involved questions (Where do you live?, What is your favorite food, etc. You will review questions from previous lessons and introduce new questions. EX: Do you like Superman?, Can you fly?, etc.)
Do "Teacher's Family Photos Time"
1.I will draw 7 squares on the top of the board in a row, then i´m going to hold up a photo of me and ask "Who is this?", once students say that is me i will stick my photo inside the middle square and i will write my name under the photo.
2.Next, i will take out another photo (e.g. my father) and again ask "Who is this?". while i'm doing this i teach the family vocab and stick the photo in one of the squares and write the word (e.g. "father") under the photo. I will do the same for all of the following: father, mother, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother.
(you may not have some of these family members, but for the sake of this lesson, use photos of friends, etc., and pretend they are your brother, grandmother, etc.)
Do "Students' Family Photos Time"
1.On the board, under the row of 7 photos of my family I'm going to place photos from each of the students' families. First, i will hold up the photos of the students in the class and ask them - each time to stick their photo in the middle column and write their names underneath.
2.Next, we will play a guessing game - holding up a photo of one of my student's family members (e.g. Hugo's sister) and get everyone to guess whose family the person belongs to.E.g."Is she Hugo's sister?").
Make Finger Puppets
I will give to each student a worksheet with images of all the family members. Then, they should cut each member of the family and decorate them as they prefer.
Then, I will help them to attach the puppets to each fingers by taping the straps around the finger - 3 puppets on each hand.
Using the finger poppets the students are going to sing the family song.
Verse 1: Hello father, Hello father, How are you? How are you? I'm fine thank you, I'm fine thank you, See you soon, See you soon.
Verse 2: Hello mother, Hello mother, How are you? How are you? I'm fine thank you, I'm fine thank you, See you soon, See you soon.
Verse 3: Hello brother, Hello brother, How are you? How are you? I'm fine thank you, I'm fine thank you, See you soon, See you soon.
Verse 4: Hello sister, Hello sister, How are you? How are you? I'm fine thank you, I'm fine thank you, See you soon, See you soon.
Verse 5: Hello grandfather, Hello grandfather, How are you? How are you? I'm fine thank you, I'm fine thank you, See you soon, See you soon.
Verse 6: Hello grandmother, Hello grandmother, How are you? How are you? I'm fine thank you, I'm fine thank you, See you soon, See you soon.
Verse 7: Hello family, Hello family, How are you? How are you? I'm fine thank you, I'm fine thank you, See you soon, See you soon.
Play "Finger Puppet Conversations"
1.By now, everyone should have the idea of the structures from the song, so they are going to have some fun role-plays with the finger puppets. They will hold up one finger puppet (e.g. mother) and other student will hold up one finger (e.g. grandfather). Role-play a fun conversation, for example:
S.Poppet: Hello grandfather.
S. Poppet 1: Hello mother.
S. Poppet: How are you?
S.Poppet 1: I'm fine, thank you. How are you?
S.Poppet: I'm fine, thank you.
S.Poppet 1: What is your name?
ex:What is your favorite color?
Where do you live?
Which is your favorite superhero?
When is your birthday?
